Payson, UT (Jan.20, 2021) – It was a tough night for Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS as round two of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season continued its stay at NRG Stadium.

Joey Savatgy looked fast during the afternoon qualifying sessions as he put down the 14th fastest overall time of the day. After a restart of his heat race, Joey came out of the gate for the second time rounding the first lap in 8th place. He quickly made a move around Kyle Chisholm for 7th and closed to within half a bike length to the rider in front, taking the checkered flag in 7th and a spot in the main event. Joey’s main event did not go well, however. While working his way forward from the back of the pack, Joey would go down hard in front of the mechanics area, thus ending his main event early. While he did not finish the race, Joey is ok and will be back and ready to race Saturday night.

“Tonight is not how I wanted it to end. I felt good in my heat race and unfortunately went down hard in the main event that took me out for the night. While I am sore from the crash, I will be ready to race Saturday night for the last race in Houston.”

Justin Bogle did not have the night he wanted, either.  He was caught up in a first turn pile up in his heat race that was big enough to prompt a red flag restart.  Justin made the best he could with the restart, but the odds were stacked against him.  Unfortunately, damage was done to the motorcycle in the crash that presented a safety issue in which there was simply not enough time to make the start of the LCQ.

Overall a tough night, however both riders are healthy and the team is eager to line up for Round 3 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series, the final race at NRG Stadium in Houston, TX on January 23rd.
