CHANDLERSVILLE, Ohio (August 28, 2018) – Despite the less than favorable race conditions, the KR4/Husqvarna team had a successful weekend at the Grassman National Enduro, round seven of the Kenda AMA National Enduro (NEPG) series. In particular, Tayla Jones dominated the Women’s Elite division, winning by over 13 minutes.
Jones started off the day with the lead after test one. She then finished a close second in the second and third tests, before blowing away the competition in the last two tests.
“I had a pretty good race,” explained Jones. “It rained in the morning and during the first test which made things really slippery, and a few roots in some tests caught me out and I ended up on the ground. I was able to quickly recover though and felt like I was riding well. Obviously getting the win is always great so I’m happy.”
Jones’ win came with 30 extra points for the championship standings and a unique and fun trophy! Jones continues to lead the points chase with her five-race win streak.
Cory Buttrick made the short one-hour drive to the Grassman NEPG this weekend. Despite a few setbacks, the hometown-favorite put in one of his best rides of the season finishing just off the overall podium in fourth. With this result, Buttrick remains fifth in the points standings.
“I really didn’t feel like we had a great day, with the slick conditions, big crashes and parts of the track that would reach up and bite you,” said Buttrick. “Luckily just about everyone else was feeling the same way. So to bring home a fourth, and all things considered, I’m happy!”
Racing resumes this Labor Day Weekend with the Big Buck Full Gas Sprint Enduro in South Carolina. The following weekend, September 9, will be the next NEPG in Michigan.
