WMX Season Finale to Take Place in South Carolina
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (September 6, 2018) – The Women’s Professional Motocross Championship (WMX), an AMA National Championship, is excited to announce the rescheduled dates for the Jessica Patterson Classic in Traveler’s Rest, South Carolina for the weekend of October 6-7, 2018.
The Jessica Patterson Classic was originally scheduled for the weekend of June 30 through July 1. However, while running the amateur races and the WMX division races on Saturday the weather took a turn for the worse. As the rain fell, flash flooding conditions were created, and racing was forced to cease operations for the day. The rain continued to fall, and after assessing the situation the following day the event was unfortunately forced to cancel.
The Jessica Patterson Classic will become a three-moto format with practice taking place on Saturday, October 6. Then on Sunday, October 7, the day will start with practice/timed qualifying at 10 a.m., followed by moto one at 12 p.m. moto two at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. showcasing the third and final moto of the 2018 season.
The seven-time WMX champion is excited to host the Women’s Professional Motocross season finale round. Patterson expressed her excitement to us saying, ” We were very disappointed that our scheduled event was rained out. Our facility and our staff were ready to host this national event. Now our team and our facility are in better shape than ever and ready to welcome the most talented women motocrossers in the world.”
An awards ceremony will be held Sunday after the third moto to officially crown the 2018 National Champion and Top 10 awards. If you previously signed up to race the Jessica Patterson Classic, you will have a credit towards your entry. If you did not sign up earlier in the year, then the WMX race fee is $100.
