Blake Baggett kept the pace during morning practice, as he put down the 5th-fastest time of the day. During moto 1, Blake had a great launch out of the gate and rounded the first turn inside the top three. He slid back to fourth early on but kept the intensity, and by the midway point, moved himself back into the top three. Blake didn’t let off and charged to the finish, taking the checkered flag in 3rd place.

Another powerful start in the second moto put Blake near the front of the pack in 4th place early on. He kept his speed up, and the superior traction of his Dunlop tires allowed him to charge into the top three by the midpoint of the race. He continued to ride strong, only sliding back one spot and finishing the moto in 4th place. Combined with his 3rd-place finish in moto 1, Blake earned 4th overall. With four races left, he still holds 5th in the championship points.

“It was a good day out there,” said Baggett. “We were in contention all day, we just came up a little short. We’re positive though since we are still moving in the right direction. We’ll regroup and come back ready to fight for the podium in Washougal.”

Benny Bloss’s first moto started with him just outside the top ten after the first turn. He began charging towards the race leaders, but Benny made an early mistake and fell back to 18th. The Acerbis-supported rider regained his composure and proceeded to work his way back up through the field, finishing just outside the top ten in 11th.

A better start in moto 2 put Benny inside the top ten early on. The Fly Racing-supported rider used speed and consistency to his advantage, eventually crossing the finish line in 8th place. With his 11-8 finishes, Benny earned himself 10th overall for the day.

“Today was tough,” said Bloss. “I was feeling good out there until I went down in the first moto, which was unfortunate since I had the speed for a top-five finish. Overall, it was a good weekend. We made progress, and I’m looking forward to aiming for a top-five finish at Washougal.”

Dakota Alix had to work double time in the first moto of the 250MX class after getting tangled up in a first-turn pileup. After remounting, Dakota dug deep and fought hard, going from nearly last place up to 19th at the finish.

His second moto started better, as he started inside the top 20. The ASV-supported rider kept charging and moved himself forward until he crossed the finish line in 16th. Combined with his 19th-place finish in moto 1, Dakota ended the day 17th overall.

Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS travels to the Pacific Northwest next week to race at Washougal MX in Washougal, WA, for round nine of the 2018 Pro Motocross Nationals.
