This past weekend the AMA ATV MX Pro National Championship headed to the Midwest for the series third round of racing. Wienen Motorsports’ Chad Wienen went 1-1 for first overall for the weekend and regained the point’s lead.

The first gate drop Wienen came out of the first turn in the second place position. With tenths of a second difference in lap times to the leader out front Wienen was riding within a two second gap from the rider out front. Halfway through a mechanical issue to the rider out front put Wienen in the lead where he went on to take the first moto win of the day.

The rain started just in time for moto 2 and knowing how key the holeshot was Wienen put his head down and came out of the first turn in second. Making the pass for the lead early, Wienen focused on not making any mistakes and riding with the mud as best as possible. Wienen continued on to take his second win of the day.

“I really put my head down these past few weeks, I wanted to come into Ironman and go 1-1 and I’m pumped to have been able to reach my goal. It feels great to have been able to get my first ever overall win at Ironman. I’m happy to have regained the points lead and running the red plate heading to the next round at South of the Border in Hamer, South Carolina. I can’t thank my support crew and sponsors enough for keeping the wheels moving on my program!” said Wienen

On Sunday Wienen races in the Premier Stock Pro class. First moto of the day was a mud race from the heavy rainfall the night before. He came out of the first turn in second. Where he tried to make pushes to the front and dropped a spot until two laps to go he was able to get back to second. Where he would finish in second for moto 1. As the track dried out, racing conditions were much better for moto 2 and Wienen grabbed the holeshot as they came around the first turn. Battling with the rider in second for the whole moto, Wienen came out victorious taking the moto win and with a 2-1 finish took the overall.

“I’m glad the track shaped up for better racing in moto 2 to show what these stock machines are made of. I had a lot of fun battling with the other riders and am looking forward to the rest of the season as the class continues to grow.” Said Wienen.

The next round of racing will be May 11 and 12 in Hamer, South Carolina at South of the Border MX.
