Detroit, MI (February 23, 2019) – For the second-straight race, GEICO Honda’s Chase Sexton landed a third-place finish in the 250SX East division of Monster Energy Supercross. With speed and consistency, Sexton continues to battle for his first career win, but it remains elusive. Detroit presented a Triple Crown format with three 10-minute and 1 lap mains, and Sexton found himself in the fight for second in both of the first two races. However, late-race mistakes cost him spots, and led to fourth-place finishes. He finally collected that runner-up finish in the final race, and his 4-4-2 scores put him in third on the night. “The first two races I got myself where I needed to be but made two mistakes that cost me from any chance of being in contention,” said Sexton. “The third race, told myself I had to win because I was a little bit back on points. I felt good all night, maybe a little flat, but I’m looking forward to next weekend.”
Sexton is on the chase for series’ leader Austin Forkner, who has won all three races this
This weekend’s Atlanta round will bring the 250SX East and West contingent together, so the GEICO Honda team will send Sexton as well as RJ Hampshire and Cameron McAdoo into battle.
